workshops/ conferences/ seminar/ symposium

Seminar is, generally, a form of academic instruction, either at an academic institution or offered by a commercial or professional organization. It has the function of bringing together small groups for recurring meetings, focusing each time on some particular subject, in which everyone present is requested to actively participate. The idea behind the seminar system is to familiarize students more extensively with the methodology of their chosen subject and also to allow them to interact with examples of the practical problems that always occur during research work. It is essentially a place where assigned readings are discussed, questions can be raised and debates can be conducted. It is relatively informal, at least compared to the lecture system of academic instruction.
An academic conference or symposium is basically for researchers along with academics to present and discuss their work. Together with academic or scientific journals, conferences provide an important channel for exchange of information between researchers.

eg. "National Conference on Metabolomics, Transcriptomics and Proteomics"

The major objectives of the events are:

1. To promote and safeguard the overall interests of Biotechnology/Bioinformatics as a science, industry or trade by coordinating with research professionals and academic institutions.

2. To promote academia and industry engaged in Biotechnology/Bioinformatics linkages in the member countries.

3. To promote the development of Biotechnology/Bioinformatics and to establish equitable principles of participation and practice among the member countries.
